Barby and Onley is a split parish village in the Daventry Area of West Northamptonshire.
It is located approximately 5 miles south of Rugby and 7 miles north of Daventry with Barby situated on a hilltop overlooking the Rainsbrook and Leam valleys and Onley 1½ miles to the west on the valley floor. The parish has a resident population of approximately 1,250 with 546 houses including 94 at Onley.
The Oxford Canal runs between Barby and Onley. The parish contains a garden centre, a pub (currently closed), a general shop and post office, a Church of England primary school, two Village Halls, two marinas (Barby Moorings and Dunchurch Pools Marina) and a clay pigeon shooting club (Barby Sporting Club).

Defibrillators are also available in both Barby and Onley. The Barby defibrillator is located at the entrance to Barby Village Hall (facing Kilsby Road) and the Onley defibrillator is located in the red telephone box near the entrance road into the estate.
The excellent village sports field, home to Barby Cricket Club, is located opposite the windmill on Longdown Lane and the club runs successful men's, women's and junior sides.
The Barby Townlands and Educational Charity
uses funds raised from the property it manages and investments to provide grants to local organisations that are based in or serve the residents of Barby and Onley. As well as benefiting the Parish the Charity has to protect the assets for future generations. The charity can trace its roots back to the 19th Century, but some of the covenants go back further.
There is a BBQ area in Millennium Orchard behind the Tennis Court opposite The Arnold Arms. Anyone is welcome to go and use it at any time – no booking required. If someone else is already there, please be prepared to share. The Boules Pit is also available for games of Petanque – just turn up and play, no booking required.
Onley is the site of a medieval lost village and has two Prisons and a Secure training centre situated near by. A new 550 berth marina is now open at Onley (Dunchurch Pools Marina).
Mainline train services from Rugby Station include London Euston (approx 56 minutes), Northampton and Birmingham. Junction 18 of the M1 motorway is 4 miles east of Barby at Crick as is DIRFT (Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal)
Barby is twinned with Vulaines-sur-Seine in France.
