Vacancy for Parish Clerk, Barby & Onley Parish Council (BOPC), Northamptonshire

Salary: Scale: LC2 SCP 24 – 28; £15.16 – £17.05/hour subject to qualifications and experience.
Contract: Permanent, Part time 65 hours per month (working hours flexible by agreement) to include attendance at evening meetings
Start Date: Middle October 2022
Location: To mainly work from home, for which an allowance is paid.
Laptop, printer & mobile phone provided.
Barby & Onley Parish council (BOPC) seeks a highly motivated and innovative person for the role of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO)
The appointed candidate will support a pro-active and community focused Parish Council.

Barby & Onley Parish lies in Northamptonshire, 3 miles from Rugby and 7 miles from the District town of Daventry. It is a split Parish with 100 houses being located at Onley Park which is three miles away from the centre of Barby.
There is a total population of 2200, a Primary School, Church, two Village Halls, a Sports pavilion, skatepark and 2 play areas. The Parish Council has a precept of £60,483.

Barby & Onley is a vibrant and active community The Parish Council is made up of the full complement of 11 hard working and enthusiastic members who are dedicated to making a difference to their community while dealing with the many issues and challenges facing rural villages.  

BOPC's Clerk is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Council's services and functions.
The role requires a person with all round administration, organisational and business proficiency including accounting/budgeting experience.
They must have very good IT and financial management skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. The capability to interact positively with a wide range of people is essential.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for ensuring that the instructions of the Council are carried out and will also be expected to bring to Council solutions to challenges, as well as assisting in shaping and driving forward strategic priorities.
The ability to effectively manage contractors and work with councillors, external organisations, stakeholders and the community is very important.  
The candidate will be a good team worker, in addition they will have the proven ability to work on their own initiative and manage their own workload
A good knowledge of local government legislation would be advantageous
A Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA qualification) is highly desirable, or candidates should be willing to work towards obtaining it within an agreed timescale (training will be provided).
